According to Polygon, Helldivers 2 is now available on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, allowing subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium to access the game. This addition coincides with the game's latest update, Devoid of Liberty, as reported by Polygon.
Polygon reports that the Devoid of Liberty update introduces a new storyline where the Illuminate have expanded their war front with the Void, causing strange mutations on several planets. Players must destroy Illuminate spires and gateways, complete data reconnaissance, and infiltrate Illuminate structures with the help of the new Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF).
As noted by Polygon, the SEAF can now appear in Helldivers 2 as a planet modifier, joining players in battle and enhancing their combat capabilities with new tools such as stim pistols and heavy machine guns. The update also includes new secondary objectives, including eradicating Void mutations and extracting research materials.
Polygon mentions that the update includes new Void mutations, such as The Crusher and The Wretch, which pose new challenges to players. These mutations are described in the game's Steam patch notes, as cited by Polygon.
