A permanent, real-world Freddy Fazbear's Pizza restaurant is due to open in 2027, through a collaboration between Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon and American Dream, the entertainment and retail complex in New Jersey.
The two sides announced the plan through social media posts on 8 August, alongside a short teaser. "The world of Five Nights at Freddy's is arriving at American Dream," a description on the venue's website said, according to IGN. Neither party has given an opening date more precise than 2027.
What the venue is meant to be
A follow-up post described the attraction as a permanent immersive restaurant experience, and as "a functional reimagining of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, designed to immerse guests in the world of the iconic franchise."
The announcement listed what guests will be able to do there: dine at the restaurant, play arcade games, watch animatronic stage shows featuring Freddy and the Fazbear Band, visit Foxy's Pirate Cove, and take part in what the companies called "immersive multiplayer survival-horror experiences." No menu has been described.
American Dream already operates dining venues, shops and a Nickelodeon theme park, so a themed restaurant sits within what the site does. The horror series, by contrast, is set almost entirely in and around a pizzeria that is falling apart, staffed by hostile animatronics and run by management indifferent to its own safety record.
A long-standing request
Dot Esports reports that Cawthon had previously said he had no interest in the food industry, and that fans had speculated about the awkwardness of recreating the games' setting as a real venue. Partnering with American Dream leaves the running of the restaurant to an operator that already does it.
This is not the first Fazbear-themed food outlet. A pop-up version ran at Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights in 2025, serving pizza topped with meatballs and spaghetti, Chica's Cupcake cupcakes and themed drinks.
In keeping with the series' marketing, the reveal was preceded by a grainy image of a half-pepperoni, half-cheese pizza on a confetti-covered table. Fans said they could make out the words "coming soon" concealed in the picture, and IGN reported that it was able to see the hidden message by adjusting the image's colours and brightness.
