Aion 2 raises dungeon and raid party sizes for its global launch

NCsoft's first global-release livestream covered party sizes, server regions and founder's pack benefits, but stopped short of a launch date.

NCsoft has held its first livestream dedicated to the global release of Aion 2, running through changes to party sizes, server regions, character options and founder's pack contents. As MassivelyOP reports, a firm calendar date for the launch was not among the reveals.

Bigger groups for dungeons and raids

The global version increases group sizes in both of the game's main cooperative formats. Dungeon parties rise from four players to five, and the first raid moves from eight players to ten. Dungeons will ship with two difficulty settings, described on the stream as exploration and conquest.

Competitive play is being adjusted alongside it. The objective-based 10v10 battleground mode will normalise player stats, and a PvP toggle flag will be available from the start of the game everywhere except the Abyss, which is faction-versus-faction PvP by default. The developers also discussed the game's 1v1 nightmare boss fights, the archetypes behind its classes, and the timed objectives in the Abyss.

Servers, characters and founder's packs

NCsoft confirmed five server regions at launch: NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe and Japan. There is no region locking between them, so players are not restricted to the servers nearest to them. Each account will start with four character slots.

The studio also said maximum pet levels are being lowered from five to three, a change it presented as a way of reducing grind. On the game's wings, the stream covered the stats attached to different sets, confirmed that wing skins can be swapped, and reaffirmed that skins sold through the cash shop carry no stats of their own.

Founder's packs took up part of the discussion as well. The developers said every pack will include 30 days of subscription time, and that the entitlement will be applied retroactively to players who have already bought one. The cosmetics bundled into the packs will not be sold separately through the cash shop.

Character customisation for models and outfits was shown during the broadcast, which NCsoft has published in full. The studio has not said when the global version will launch, or when it will announce a date.
