All four Chinese organisations at VALORANT Champions lost their opening series 0-2 and did not win a single map between them, Esports Insider reported. The 0-8 aggregate came at a tournament held on home ground in Shanghai.
TYLOO opened the round against G2 Esports and lost 0-2, closing with a 9-26 round differential. EDward Gaming, rated by many as China’s strongest hope going into the event, lost 0-2 to LOUD at 13-26, the closest any Chinese side came to a round advantage. XLG Esports, making its first appearance on the Champions stage, was beaten 0-2 by Karmine Corp and matched TYLOO’s 9-26 differential. JD Gaming lost 0-2 to FUT Esports at 11-26, making it the only Chinese team to reach double figures in rounds won.
Americas sides went 4-0 in the same round
The four VCT Americas representatives in the same round - 100 Thieves, LOUD, NRG and G2 Esports - won all four of their series, a combined 4-0 record.
Esports Insider described the four Chinese sides as in immediate danger of being among the first teams eliminated from the tournament. At the time of its report, no side had been confirmed out, and the four remained in the event ahead of the second round of group matches.
