Amazon Prime's August PC game giveaway is headlined by Steelrising

Amazon has confirmed this month's wave of 'free' PC games for Prime subscribers on Luna, the gaming service formerly known as Prime Gaming. Video Games Chronicle reports that nine titles are being made claimable across August, headlined by the action RPG Steelrising and the colour 'em up Spray Paint Simulator.

The arrangement is unchanged from the Prime Gaming era. Subscribers are given a selection of PC games each month to claim, download and keep, delivered as codes redeemed on other storefronts — GOG, the Epic Games Store and Amazon's own games launcher. VGC contrasts that with PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, where access lasts only as long as the subscription does; Amazon's titles stay in a player's library even after a Prime subscription lapses.

Steelrising is the biggest name on the list and becomes claimable on August 13 through the Epic Games Store, alongside Airship: Kingdoms Adrift and the escape-room title Pyramids and Aliens.

The staggered schedule means the month's list unlocks in four batches, with two titles available immediately and the rest arriving on August 13, 20 and 27. Each is claimed through the service and then redeemed on whichever storefront is listed against it.

Some of July's titles can still be claimed, though VGC says they will start to disappear over the course of the month. In Sound Mind, XCOM: Chimera Squad and Framed Collection are among those still available, and anything already claimed stays in the player's library after it is removed from the offer.

Separately, the Luna Standard membership included with Amazon Prime carries more than 80 games to stream. New Luna Standard additions this month include Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Bluey: The Videogame, Disney/Pixar Brave: The Video Game and Disney/Pixar: WALL-E.
