Hypergryph will roll out version 1.4 of Arknights: Endfield on July 16, 2026, pairing a story-heavy content drop with a PS5 Pro-specific graphics upgrade. Dubbed "Companionship Celebration: Homecoming," the update marks the sci-fi title's half-anniversary and lands alongside a refreshed build of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) on PS5 Pro. On PS5 Pro, the update is aimed squarely at visual fidelity: sharper outfit and texture detail, steadier image quality during fast combat, more stable high frame rates at 4K, and clearer rendering of the game's stylized environments. The patch also pushes the story forward, introduces two new playable Operators, adds several new modes, and hands out a batch of anniversary rewards.
PS5 Pro Upgrades
The headline technical change is an upgraded implementation of PSSR, Sony's upscaling technology for PS5 Pro. Hypergryph says the new version improves temporal stability so image quality holds up better during fast-paced action, while also delivering more consistent frame rates when running at 4K resolution. Character models benefit from finer outfit and texture detail, and the studio says stylized environments in particular come through with added clarity. David Gu, CTO of Hypergryph, said folding the upgraded PSSR into Endfield "required very little engineering effort, while improving image clarity" across a range of gameplay scenarios.
Story: Closing Out the Wuling Arc
Version 1.4 continues the main campaign with Chapter 3, Acts 1 and 2, bringing the game's Wuling storyline to a close. The update opens up two new explorable regions, Yinglung Pass and the North Wuling Exclusion Zone, and adds a new boss encounter, Alleikhreos.
New Operators
Two Operators join the roster with this patch. Arcane is a Nature Caster built around Corrosion damage and crowd control, giving players another tool for locking down groups of enemies. Liino fills a support role as an Electric Supporter, combining healing with damage amplification for allies.
New Modes
The update adds three distinct modes. "Echoes of War" is a permanent, seasonal challenge mode that rewards players with exclusive titles. "The Rooted Realm" is a roguelike mode built around stages that unlock progressively as players advance. "Heat Rage! Mega Arena!" is a limited-time co-op challenge designed around two-operator teams.
Quality-of-Life and Extras
Beyond combat content, 1.4 adds an AIC Factory gas production chain, a Story Skip option aimed at new players catching up on the plot, and a birthday rewards system. The patch also introduces Talosite collectibles to track down and an expanded Photo Mode with adjustable character poses.
Half-Anniversary Rewards
To mark the milestone, Hypergryph is giving all players a free copy of the 6-star weapon Oroberyl, along with recruitment permits usable to pull new Operators. Several sign-in campaigns will also run around the update's launch, offering additional log-in based rewards. Version 1.4 arrives July 16, 2026, with the upgraded PSSR enhancements applying to players on PS5 Pro. Arknights: Endfield is Hypergryph's sci-fi entry in the Arknights franchise.
