Ubisoft has released Title Update 1.0.6 for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a patch whose headline entry is an option to hide Edward Kenway's blowpipe. Rock Paper Shotgun reports the update rolled out on August 4 at 3PM BST, 10AM EST and 7AM PST; PC Gamer puts its size at between 1.8 and 3.7 GB depending on the storefront.
Before the patch the blowpipe was a permanent part of Kenway's appearance once obtained in the story, and PC Gamer reports that players had objected to how it sat against the game's outfits. Ubisoft framed the change as a response to that feedback.
We saw your feedback, and we have given players the option to hide the 'Blow Pipe' from Edward’s back. In order to do so, access your outfit in the inventory and select R2 for the option to 'Hide Gear'.
Players who prefer the item visible can leave it as it was.
Economy and progression fixes
Under progression and economy, the notes record that the Kraken wheel's cost had been listed incorrectly, a fix Ubisoft logged with the aside that the wheel is "wheely expensive". The ship codex entry for The Benjamin, which had been unlocking at a later quest than intended, has also been corrected.
A tutorial covering the throw money mechanic, used to distract guards, was missing from the game and has been added.
General and gameplay changes
- Autosaves increased from five to ten, allowing loads from earlier progressions.
- Fixed PC cutscenes that could lock at 30 FPS when graphics settings were switched to custom from a low preset.
- Restored the ability to toggle Edward's hood during a Leap of Faith.
- Fixed DLC pack notifications that could appear at the start of a new game.
- Fixed minor crashes during ground and naval fights.
The remainder of the notes cover quest, world, UI, audio and visual fixes, including a font change to improve readability in Simplified Chinese and alignment corrections for Arabic.
Rock Paper Shotgun notes that the update arrives against the backdrop of union strikes at Ubisoft Barcelona over planned layoffs; the studio was one of those that worked on the remake.
