Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone are running a first-past-the-post cosmetic challenge in Season 5, with a numbered version of a weapon camo reserved for the first 100,000 players to finish it, Dexerto reports.
The challenge is attached to the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack, a pre-order bonus for Modern Warfare 4. Buying the pre-order unlocks the Moonlit Pearl camo immediately in Black Ops 7 and Warzone, and opens the challenge that leads to Gilded Ruin.
Every player who completes the challenge receives the Gilded Ruin camo. Only the first 100,000 to do so receive the Serialized Gilded Ruin variant, which carries the player's own number — the first to finish would see "No: 000001 of 100,000" on the weapon. Players who complete it later still get the camo, without a number.
How the Skulls add up
Completing the challenge means earning 5,000 Skulls through eliminations across Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The rate varies sharply by mode, which makes the choice of playlist the main factor in how quickly the total comes together.
- Warzone: 30 Skulls per elimination
- Black Ops 7 Multiplayer: 10 Skulls per elimination
- Endgame: 5 Skulls per elimination
- Zombies: 1 Skull per elimination
The challenge opened alongside Black Ops 7 Season 5 on July 23 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST, so the race for low serial numbers has been running for two days. Dexerto notes that pre-ordering before that start time is what puts a player in position to begin immediately.
Both Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin will also be available in Modern Warfare 4 at launch, meaning any serialized version earned now carries across to the next release rather than being tied to this season.
Tying a capped, individually numbered cosmetic to a pre-order gives the reward two scarcity layers at once: the pack itself is only available to people who commit to Modern Warfare 4 in advance, and within that group the numbering is settled by how fast players grind eliminations in the days after Season 5 opened. Dexerto does not report how many of the 100,000 slots have been claimed, and Activision has not published a running count.
