Blizzard has hotfixed the Liquid Luster potion, a consumable introduced in World of Warcraft's Patch 12.1, raising the Versatility it grants by 151.5% on live servers. Wowhead reported the change and set out the new numbers.
Liquid Luster grants bonus Versatility for 30 seconds, adding a stack every six seconds up to a cap of five stacks for the final six seconds of its duration. After the hotfix it grants 420 Versatility per stack, up from 167, with the lower-tier version moving from 143 to 358.
The potion had a difficult route to that number. Wowhead notes that players on the Patch 12.1 public test realm already considered it weak before Blizzard applied a 52% nerf during testing, which left it behind the Potion of Recklessness even at full stacks. The hotfix reverses that reduction and then goes further. Blizzard has not published a reason for the original PTR nerf.
What the new numbers mean
Under the hotfixed values, the potion ramps from 420 Versatility in its first six seconds to 2,100 in its last, averaging roughly 1,260 secondary stats across the full 30 seconds with the largest share arriving at the end. The Potion of Recklessness, by comparison, grants 1,725 of a character's highest secondary stat while removing 232 of the lowest, for a raw gain of about 1,493.
That still leaves the two potions serving different purposes rather than making one obviously better. Wowhead's assessment is that Liquid Luster now has a case for specs that value Versatility, for players who want its damage reduction, or for windows where the back-loaded stat spike lines up with a burst phase, while Potion of Recklessness remains the more straightforward flat increase.
The ramp is the complicating factor. Because the potion only reaches its full five stacks in the last six seconds of its 30-second duration, its value depends on whether a player can line that tail up with the part of a fight where the extra stats matter. Wowhead's per-stack breakdown runs 420, 840, 1,260, 1,680 and 2,100 Versatility across the five intervals.
Blizzard applied the change as a hotfix, so it is already live and requires no client patch. The potion was added in Patch 12.1, and this is the second time its numbers have moved significantly since it was introduced on the test realm.
