Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone move into Season 06 on September 17 with a supernatural-themed update called The Haunting, according to the season overview published on the PlayStation Blog. Raven Software's own Season 06 blog post also confirmed that the season will be the last for Warzone's Black Ops Royale mode, Dexerto reported.
Black Ops Royale's final season
Black Ops Royale arrived in Warzone with the Season 2 Reloaded update in March. Inspired by Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, it stripped out loadouts and the Gulag for a more streamlined battle royale while giving players Wingsuits and Grapple Hooks, Dexerto wrote. According to Raven, the mode will be removed once Warzone integrates with Modern Warfare 4.
Season 06 will be your last chance to play Black Ops Royale. Get those wins in and earn your Weapon Camos before the end of Season 06!
No exact removal date has been given, according to Dexerto, which reported that the decision split players: some wanted the mode kept alongside Black Ops 7, while others welcomed it, arguing that running Black Ops Royale next to the standard battle royale divided the player base.
What Season 06 adds
In Warzone, the season introduces Haunted Hollow, a nighttime variant of the Haven's Hollow map with occult activity across the region. The overview lists a Ghost Train that players can phase back into reality to loot, Trick or Treat pumpkins that hand out either loot or a trick, and a drained pond that exposes ruins. A Giant Infected limited-time mode puts 64 players into Haunted Hollow, with eight randomly chosen players starting as Infected and the Survivors working to build a DNA Bomb to stop the outbreak. New Winstreak challenges award Universal Weapon Camos, and Resurgence Ranked Play begins a new season.
Black Ops 7 multiplayer gains Quantum, a new map set in a Guild quantum computing facility buried in Arctic ice, and Bloodstead, a retheme of Homestead. A new T.E.D.D. Trials limited-time mode brings three Zombies maps into multiplayer for the first time: Roadkill from Ashes of the Damned, Inferno from Kowakujō and Lost from Totenreich. The Hordepoint mode, which puts zombies on a Hardpoint map, returns.
Zombies gets Tenshu, a survival map set in the Masaki family's ancestral castle, a Directed Mode and a Starting Room variant for Rex Infernus, and three new Rogue Run pedestal rewards, including Pack-a-Punch IV and Golden Armor. Rogue Run also adds the Paradox Junction and Kowakujō maps.
The Season 06 Battle Pass includes the VMP SMG and TR51 Para Assault Rifle, while the Arcblade melee weapon and Roc 20mm Special are tied to events and weekly challenges. The season also carries a Doom crossover with its own Event Pass and a Doom-themed Tracer Pack bundle in the Store, according to the overview.
