Call of Duty's next seasonal update goes live Thursday, July 23, bringing new content to Black Ops 7 and Warzone at once. Season 5 adds four weapons, five multiplayer maps, several new modes, fresh Zombies content, and a Warzone limited-time mode built around superhero-style powers. The battle pass is headlined by Spectre, the operator from Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4, alongside a new BlackCell-exclusive operator named Cipher.
New Weapons
Season 5 brings four new weapons: the FG42 assault rifle and Gremlin SMG unlock through the battle pass at launch, while the Mammoth LMG and Mace melee weapon arrive later, alongside new attachments, camos, and weapon challenges.
Battle Pass and Operators
The battle pass includes more than 100 unlockable pieces of content plus two base weapons, beyond the separate BlackCell track. The standard pass costs $10, with a $30 BlackCell bundle as an upgrade. Cipher is described in-game as "part of a black budget project that fused condemned inmates with advanced combat sub-systems." Instant unlocks include a Battle Pass XP boost, the Spectre skin and its BlackCell variant, and a Legendary blueprint for the Voyak KT-3 rifle. Completing the pass earns an Ultra Spectre skin, a Legendary Carbon 57 SMG blueprint, 200 COD Points, and more cosmetics.
New Maps and Modes
Five multiplayer maps arrive. Jubilee, a new 6v6 map in a rural Japanese festival town, launches alongside two remasters: Frequency, a Black Ops 4 mountain listening station, and Dig, a smaller Black Ops 2 archaeological site. Turbo Tilt is a new 2v2/6v6 map inside a Nuketown-themed pinball machine with a moving hazard, and Descent is built for the parkour-focused Freerun mode. Three modes join multiplayer. Overdrive Domination has players capture and hold objectives while earning stars through style kills and medals — higher star counts unlock perception, movement, and weapon-handling boosts called Cognition Uplink, Hyper Speed, and Ballistic Overdrive. Gauntlet Rush cycles through two-minute rounds of Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint, and Roulette. Cranked, the kill-chain mode that forces players to keep scoring or explode, makes its Black Ops 7 debut.
Endgame and Zombies
Black Ops 7's co-op Endgame mode gets a new Avalon assignment called Burn Run, a timed race through a bomb-rigged vehicle where running over enemies and objects adds time to the clock. Exotic abilities can now be boosted with rare in-match enhancements. Zombies adds three smaller experiences at launch: Eidskallen, a survival map carved from the round-based Totenreich map; a Starting Room map limited to the Outer Ward of Season 4's Kowakujo castle; and Rogue Run, a new mode on the Astra Malorum map. The midseason Reloaded update brings Rex Infernus, the final round-based Zombies map and story conclusion for Black Ops 7. A teaser image shows a house resembling Dr. Monty's home from Black Ops 3's Revelations map.
Events and Warzone
Two events run across all modes at launch: Machine of War and a Treyarch-themed celebration marking the studio's 30th anniversary, plus a Zombies-exclusive leaderboard event tied to the Eidskallen Lighthouse Survival map. More events are planned around the Reloaded update. Warzone gets a new Verdansk point of interest called Drone Labs, where supply drones carrying gear launch into the air and can be shot down by players. The season's biggest Warzone addition is Heavy Metal Heroes, a 50v50 limited-time mode adapted from the fan-favorite Blackout mode, built around heavy-vehicle combat and superhero-style powers earned from eliminations, including faster movement, armor regeneration, and upgrades. Matches also include lootable mobility items such as Flicker, Kinetic Jump, and the grappling hook from Endgame. It runs as a standard battle royale mode rather than through Black Ops Royale. Season 5 launches July 23 for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, both published by Activision with Treyarch developing the Black Ops line, with more content scheduled around the midseason Reloaded update.
