Code Vein II's Mask of Idris DLC launches on September 9, 2026, Bandai Namco announced on the PlayStation Blog. The expansion tells a history-altering story separate from the main campaign of the post-apocalyptic action RPG, which released earlier this year.

Mask of Idris adds two new partner characters, new weapons and Formae, and new bosses. A free update for all players ships alongside it, adding further features to the base game whether or not the paid content is bought. Access to the DLC is gated: Bandai Namco says certain play conditions must be met before the new content opens up, and pointed players to its official channels for the full requirements.

The Forsaken World

The expansion is set in the Forsaken World, a realm grown out of Temporal Rifts — pockets of alternate space that preserved residual traces of the branching histories created by the past intervention of the great hero Idris. The rifts were meant to fade over time, but instead kept expanding. At the centre sits the Spindle of Pathos, a colossal swirling force that draws in emotions from across time and space and now threatens to consume the world the game's protagonists are fighting to protect.

Two new partners

Liv Voda, the original guardian of the Temporal Rift and half-sister of Valentin Voda, abandoned her duties out of boredom and has been away from the frontier region for years. Bandai Namco describes her as combative, with hair and eyes that glow brightly when her emotions run high. She fights aggressively in melee with a halberd, chaining attacks from her Chariot Rave Formae and nimble evasive steps. Her Linkage Trait makes enemies more susceptible to staggering from weapon attacks, and her support Formae, Mad Blood Dance, boosts both her own and the protagonist's attack power, with the effect extending on each successful hit.

The second partner is Lou Magmell — not the Revenant girl the protagonist meets in the main story, but a different individual who entered the Forsaken World after a separate tragedy. The truth behind her past unfolds gradually as the DLC progresses.

Two of the new Formae were detailed. Grave Knocker is a martial-arts Formae compatible with every weapon type, unleashing an aerial kick that creates a shockwave to stagger surrounding enemies and a second shockwave on landing, making it a crowd-control option. Sword of Karma: Idris summons a great sword imbued with the flames of Pathos, offering long reach, extended combo strings and a final blow that sends those flames forward.
