EA Sports is rolling out a title update for College Football 27 that replaces the existing Dynasty mode experience system with three selectable progression speeds. The patch also retunes CPU recruiting behavior, rules out the return of Road to Glory XP sliders, and addresses a recurring EDGE position-battle bug.

Dynasty Mode Gets Three XP Speeds

The headline change in the update is a full rework of how coaches earn experience in Dynasty mode. Instead of the single progression track used previously, players will choose from three named settings when starting or continuing a save. Career runs at a standard 1.0x XP rate and becomes the new default, built around what EA calls the "Dynasty Blueprint" experience — the pacing the mode is designed around long-term. Simulation increases the rate to 1.25x, aiming for a more realistic on-field pace while still letting coaches level up faster than the default track. Casual is the quickest option at 1.5x XP, matching the "Faster" progression setting carried over from College Football 26. EA framed the change as an attempt to give players more control over pacing without undercutting the mode's intended structure. The developer said the goal was to allow "more flexibility in coach progression without compromising the long-term progression" that the Dynasty Blueprint is meant to deliver.

Recruiting Tuning and Road to Glory

Alongside the XP overhaul, the update adjusts how the CPU competes on the recruiting trail. EA is tuning CPU behavior when programs pursue highly-rated recruits, along with how the CPU manages training and retention priorities during a cycle. The studio expects the changes to produce more players rated 90 overall or higher as Dynasty saves progress over multiple seasons. Road to Glory players hoping for adjustable XP sliders will not get them in this update. EA said the mode's progression is built around a different set of factors — difficulty, physical fitness, NIL deals, and scholarship bonuses — that together form a progression structure distinct from Dynasty's. The studio also confirmed that players will intentionally start with lower overall ratings than in past versions, offset by multiple bonus progression opportunities available across a Road to Glory career.

Bug Fixes

The update also targets a gameplay bug affecting EDGE players, who have been failing to trigger required position battles under certain conditions. This update addresses the issue, with a deeper, more complete fix planned for release the following week. Together, the changes give Dynasty players three selectable XP speeds to control progression pace, retune CPU recruiting behavior toward more high-rated players over time, and leave Road to Glory's progression structure intact without adjustable XP sliders. The update also addresses the recurring EDGE position-battle bug, with a deeper, more complete fix planned for release the following week.
