Crimson Desert Switch 2

Pearl Abyss confirms Switch 2 release and sees potential for multiplayer

According to Eurogamer, Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert will be released on the Switch 2, with a rough timeframe given. The company also sees 'significant potential' for multiplayer in the single-player open-world fantasy game, as stated in its Earnings Letter discussing Q2 2026 financial results.

Pearl Abyss's comments noted a further 2.11 million sales of the game, bringing the total to 7.11 million copies sold, as Crimson Desert had sold 5 million copies in June. The company laid out plans for the future, including a release on Switch 2, which was previously being investigated.

The company stated that 'we are striving to make Crimson Desert available across as many platforms as possible', but has no 'immediate plans' for a mobile port. Pearl Abyss also mentioned that 'platform expansion is not merely a straightforward port; the key requirement is ensuring that the game's graphics, combat action, and seamless open-world experience are fully preserved on each target device'.

Regarding the Switch 2 release, Pearl Abyss said that 'while optimisation is required, the game is currently playable at a foundational level, and technical evaluations are underway to ensure performance optimisation and compliance with our quality standards'. The company is working towards a release targeted for the first half of 2027.
