The two-player co-op action RPG launches at $19.99, with a $29.99 Deluxe Edition, its developer said on the PlayStation Blog.

Crimson Moon, an action RPG its developer describes as gothic high renaissance and sets in the fallen city of Gildenarch, launches on PlayStation 5 on September 1, the studio announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

The game casts players as a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel warrior tasked with reclaiming the city from a demonic corruption. The studio said it had previously shown the game's melee combat, repeatable hunts and boss encounters, and used the announcement to detail its co-operative mode.

Two-player co-op

Crimson Moon is playable solo, and every hunt can also be run in two-player online co-op. The developer said encounters scale dynamically between the solo and two-player configurations, so difficulty is maintained either way.

Co-op partners share a communal life pool across a hunt. A downed player can be revived, but each death moves the pair closer to failing the run.

The studio said co-operative play extends to coordinating the game's Weapon Arts and to pairing different character builds against its larger boss encounters.

Editions and pricing

The standard edition is priced at $19.99 and Crimson Moon: Deluxe Edition at $29.99. The Deluxe Edition adds a Ceremonial Armor Set, a weapon called the Axe of the Gods, and access to a post-launch content expansion. A $10 Deluxe Edition Upgrade will let standard-edition owners add that content later.

The developer said every PlayStation player will receive the Sonai Magistrate Armor Set at launch, regardless of which edition they buy.

On PlayStation 5 Pro, the game carries native support for upgraded PSSR, which the studio said delivers a sharper image as players move through the streets of Gildenarch.

The post describes progression running from a starting area called Sanctus Clypeus through Gildenarch's increasingly dangerous Wards to a final encounter with the Dead Gods, with new gear and build options found along the way.
