Toby Fox's Deltarune Chapter 5 arrived on June 25, 2026, releasing simultaneously on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The launch drove the game to a new peak on Steam, with 291,816 players logged in at once.
A record-breaking debut
The new concurrent player mark more than doubles the 133,930 players Deltarune drew at the original game's launch. With Chapter 5's Steam peak reaching 291,816, the series is now pulling far larger simultaneous audiences than it did when it first arrived.
What's in Chapter 5
Chapter 5 picks up protagonist Kris's story, continuing the turn-based battle system the series is built around. As in earlier chapters, players decide whether to fight enemies down or spare them, a mechanic carried over from Undertale, the earlier game from creator Toby Fox. The new chapter mixes returning characters with faces players haven't met yet, and its plot threads tie back into events and lore from Undertale.
Available across five platforms
Deltarune Chapter 5 launched simultaneously on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, putting it on current PlayStation and Nintendo consoles alongside PC on day one. With Chapter 5 now live everywhere and Steam numbers already outpacing the original launch, Deltarune's expansion beyond its original PC roots appears to be paying off in player turnout. Toby Fox has not detailed what comes next for the series beyond this chapter.
