FromSoftware confirms the six Bloodsworn playable in The Duskbloods' network test

The Switch 2 multiplayer Soulslike drops character creation for prebuilt fighters, and FromSoftware says a dozen or more are planned.

FromSoftware has published the official character list for The Duskbloods, confirming the six Bloodsworn playable in the multiplayer Soulslike's upcoming network test, Polygon reports. The list was put out against a run of fake Duskbloods character leaks.

The Duskbloods is FromSoftware's first original game built for Nintendo Switch 2 and a rare multiplayer-only spin on the Bloodborne and Dark Souls combat template. Unlike Elden Ring, it does not hand players a character creator: they pick from prebuilt characters called Bloodsworn, each with their own weapons, Bloodsworn skills and passive Aspects, which can then be customised as more of the game is unlocked. FromSoftware says players can expect a dozen or more playable characters in the finished game.

The six Bloodsworn in the network test

  • Albert — the tutorial character and the most straightforward all-rounder, pairing Lorrik's Jeweled Saber with a submachine gun for dealing with mobs; his Blood Blade skill fires a blade formed from the wielder's own blood.
  • Bloodhound Jan — also met in the tutorial, but as a foe. He swings a bloodthirsty battle-axe that restores a little HP on a landed strong attack, and can hold a trigger to pour flame ahead of him from the Stone of Sorcery embedded in his left hand.
  • Trang Lanh — a faster, more elegant rogue archetype who throws the chakram-like Full Moon Blade, conceals herself with Darkmoon, and at level 12 can summon Mama Natha, a giant silver serpent, to attack the surrounding area.
  • Sniper Layla — a mummified fighter with dual Hieroglyph Katars and a long-range rifle, who escapes damage by dispersing into a swarm of insects and can extract a Gatling gun from her own body.
  • Senator Samir Patres — armed with the Senate Rapier and a Soulbird Ring that sends a prehistoric spectral bird at foes, and able to transform into a carnivorous dinosaur that charges and bites.
  • Zork — a slow, heavy bruiser in a diving suit who fights with a severed length of live undersea cable and a speargun, and whose jetpack lets him shift into flight mode and crash into enemies.

Several of the flashier abilities are level-locked rather than available from the outset: Sniper Layla's Verd Gatling Gun and Samir Patres' Saurian Form unlock at level 6, while Albert's Light of Hayern and Trang Lanh's Mama Natha arrive at level 12. Each Bloodsworn also carries two Aspects — Albert's High Lorrik Blood grants extra uses of blood-based skills, for instance, while his Upriser Aspect increases stagger potential against Bloodsworn with high Virtue.
