EA FC 27's Ultimate Team mode will lean harder on the trading-card collecting it has always borrowed from, adding a grading system for cards and holographic signed items, Dexerto reported from a preview event for the game. The additions are built around a new hub the developers call the FUT Gallery.
Every player card a user has ever owned — whether pulled from a pack or bought on the Transfer Market — is added to the Gallery automatically, and cards can then be submitted in groups to complete themed sets.
How grading works
- Sets are built around a theme, such as a full set from one league, club or nation
- Each card carries a Gallery Value derived from its rating, stats and rarity
- A completed set is graded from D at the low end to S at the top
- A set of all Gold cards grades low; adding Team of the Week or other promotional items raises it
- Completing sets earns rewards, including a new Hall of FUT card type
The Hall of FUT cards depict players who became fixtures of Ultimate Team over the mode's history; Dexerto names Hulk and Fellaini among them.
Holographic signed items
FC 27 also introduces holographic cards carrying a distinct black design with the player's signature printed across the front. They give no stat advantage over standard versions of the same player, but their higher Gallery Value makes them useful for pushing a set's grade upward.
Ultimate Team has borrowed from physical sticker and card collecting since it launched in 2009, with packs to open, rarity tiers, and rarer special versions worth more than the base cards. The Gallery adds the grading layer on top of that.
The Gallery is one of several changes coming to EA FC 27, alongside an open-world mode called The Grounds and Creator Challenges in Career Mode.
