EA paid CEO Andrew Wilson $38.6 million in its Battlefield 6 year

A revised SEC filing puts Wilson's fiscal 2026 compensation at $38,649,984, months after EA cut staff across four Battlefield studios.

Electronic Arts paid chief executive Andrew Wilson $38,649,984 in total compensation for its 2026 fiscal year, according to a Form 10-K/A filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The figure is roughly $8 million above his 2025 package, and it follows a round of layoffs that hit the developers of Battlefield 6.

Wilson's base salary was $1.3 million, unchanged from the previous year. The rest of the package came from stock awards, a non-equity incentive plan and a category the filing labels other compensation, PC Gamer reported. That last line rose sharply, from $678,858 in 2025 to nearly $2.4 million, an increase the filing attributes mainly to personal security. A 2025 assessment recommended Wilson use private air travel for personal as well as business trips; his permitted use of corporate aircraft, capped at 75 hours, cost $1,245,946.

Other named executives were paid in the same range. Polygon, citing the filing by way of Eurogamer, reported totals of more than $11.3 million for Stuart Canfield, $13.7 million for Laura Miele, $8.4 million for Mala Singh and $8.5 million for Jacob Schatz.

A record year built on Battlefield

EA reported net revenue of $7.531 billion for the fiscal year, up 9%. The filing credits Battlefield with meeting every milestone the company set for a high-quality launch, including positive critical reviews and stable services, and cites the launch again in a separate assessment of management performance in an unpredictable external environment.

Driven by our talented teams and disciplined execution, we delivered a record FY26, highlighted by the incredibly successful launch of our iconic Battlefield franchise.

Battlefield 6 was the biggest launch in the series' history and the first Battlefield to outsell a Call of Duty game released in the same year. Analyst Rhys Elliott put its sales above 20 million copies by December, making it the highest-selling game in the United States in 2025.

Cuts across the Battlefield studios

In March, EA laid off an unspecified number of developers across Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect and Motive Studios in what it described at the time as a realignment. A spokesperson told IGN the company had made select changes within its Battlefield organisation to better align teams around what mattered most to its community, and said the franchise remained one of EA's biggest priorities. PC Gamer reported that the cuts extended beyond Battlefield to Ridgeline and Full Circle and to EA's recruitment, customer support, trust and safety, and IT teams.

The filing also discloses the gap between the top of the company and its median employee. Wilson's compensation was 305 times the median EA salary in 2026, up from 260 times in 2025. The median itself rose from $117,302 to $126,612, though EA noted it had identified a new median employee for the 2026 comparison.

The disclosure arrives while Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund works to complete a $55 billion acquisition of EA alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. The European Commission has approved the transaction.
