The Esports World Cup's League of Legends event returns for its 2026 edition, running July 15 through 19 in Paris with a $2,000,000 prize pool on the line. The Group Draw
The 16-team field has been divided into four groups of four, mixing squads from different regions and leagues:

Notably, defending champion Gen.G lands in Group B alongside Karmine Corp, Sentinels, and Team Secret Whales, meaning the title holders will have to get through a crowded group before any playoff run even begins. Elsewhere, Group C pairs T1 with Bilibili Gaming, GAM Esports, and Movistar KOI, while Group A and Group D each bring together familiar top-flight rosters — G2 Esports, AG.AL, Dplus KIA, and FURIA in the former, Hanwha Life Esports, LYON, JD Gaming, and LOS in the latter.
Format: GSL Groups Feed an Eight-Team Bracket
Each group runs on a GSL-style double-elimination structure, a format that guarantees every team at least two matches before elimination. Most group-stage games are played as single-map best-of-one sets, but matches with elimination or advancement on the line switch to best-of-three. Only the top two finishers from each of the four groups move on, trimming the field from 16 to eight for the playoffs. From there, the tournament shifts to a single-elimination bracket. Quarterfinals and semifinals are both best-of-three, while the Grand Final is contested as a best-of-five. A third-place match will also be played, and its result carries weight beyond bragging rights: it factors into both prize distribution and the points teams earn toward the EWC Club Championship standings.

The tournament opens July 15 at 11:00 CET, with two group-stage matches running simultaneously to work through the 16-team field. The knockout portion of the event — quarterfinals, semifinals, and the Grand Final — is scheduled across July 17 to 19. On the attendance side, the first wave of tickets for the Paris event has already sold out, with organizers planning additional waves ahead of the tournament. With a $2,000,000 purse, EWC Club Championship points, and a defending champion looking to repeat, the League of Legends leg gives Paris a five-day event shortly after MSI 2026, with the 16-team field chasing the title from July 15 to 19.
