Mistfall Hunter, a dark fantasy extraction action RPG, has launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, Xbox announced on Xbox Wire. The publisher said the game went live on July 29 at 6:00 PM PT and is a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. A 10% discount on the Standard and Deluxe editions runs on all platforms until August 12.
The game is set in Weavereach, a world Xbox describes as corrupted by a substance called the Gyldenmist after the death of its gods. Players take the role of a Gyldhunter, revived by a character named Dew, and choose from six classes to collect a resource called Gyldenblood. Runs can be taken solo or in squads of three.
How the extraction loop works
Xbox frames the core loop in familiar extraction terms: players enter ruins holding loot, fight enemies described as Corroded monsters, and contend with rival Gyldhunters who may attack them for what they are carrying. A run ends when the player rings a bell and steps into an extraction portal, returning to a camp called Windrest with whatever they have kept.
According to the announcement, successful extractions also feed the game's narrative. Xbox says each one repairs part of a structure it calls the Web of Fate and advances the story across a season-based map that changes over time, which the publisher presents as the distinguishing feature separating it from other games in the genre.
The setting spans locations including a fortress named Brandrgarde and an area called the Hallowgrove, and is populated by humans alongside two other species, the Velgr and Lizardfolk, which Xbox says hold conflicting religious beliefs. The publisher states that the characters players meet in the mist have their own histories and motivations rather than functioning purely as enemies to farm.
Mistfall Hunter is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Game Pass. Xbox has not published sales or player figures for the launch.
