Falcons beat G2 2-0 in the BLAST Open Porto quarter-final on September 4, a one-sided series that sent them into a semi-final against Spirit, HLTV reported. It was Falcons' fourth consecutive win over G2 since Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov switched teams.
Falcons arrived at the match after an uneven group stage in which they narrowly beat Lynn Vision and were comfortably handled by MOUZ. Against G2 their individual players were on from the first round of the series.
On Inferno, Falcons built an 11-1 lead on the CT side. René “TeSeS” Madsen started it by locking down a dangerous anti-force in round two, and m0NESY, Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač each converted the few openings G2 created into multi-kills. NiKo's solo quad-kill pushed G2 further against the ropes, and although Matúš “MATYS” Šimko held his form through a second-half comeback attempt, G2 never recovered the map.
NiKo was quieter by the time Dust2 came around. kyousuke took over the job of creating openings, with a hero AK round in round six breaking G2's resistance and setting up another large first half for Falcons. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač answered with a pistol-round double, a follow-up ace and a 1v2 clutch, but the effort went unrewarded: m0NESY carried Falcons to match point, and the team closed the map out a few rounds later.
The defeat extended G2's run of big-event finishes outside the top four, a stretch that reached almost a year since their BLAST Open London title in September 2025.
The result put Falcons into a semi-final against Spirit, a rematch of the IEM Cologne Major semi-final, which Falcons won after taking two maps in overtime.
