Square Enix gave Final Fantasy 7 Revelation its second major trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and built almost all of it around the Weapons. Game director Naoki Hamaguchi introduced the footage on stage, which opened with Rufus Shinra addressing the public over the Shinra News Network about the approaching Meteor and the creatures now roaming the planet.
Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon and Ultima Weapon all appeared in redesigned forms, alongside shots of a Weapon tearing through Shinra soldiers and a prerendered sequence of the Highwind facing one down. Dot Esports reported that several Weapons will return as particularly difficult endgame encounters and as callbacks to their original battles; IGN wrote that it is still unclear whether they are standard bosses or the optional superbosses they were in the 1997 game. Square Enix has not said either way.

The trailer also revealed Typhon as a summon and spent time on how the party moves through Revelation's world. Cloud can ride Chocobos, parachute into areas from the air and use a grappling hook to cross terrain, extending the Highwind exploration Square Enix demonstrated when it first showed the game in June. IGN's report added a look inside a submarine carrying the Huge Materia and an underwater combat section, plus Yuffie exploring what appears to be Wutai.
Cloud and Tifa were shown using the FITS system, with Cloud in a Warrior outfit and Tifa in Black Mage. Short for Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear, FITS layers a job system over the trilogy's existing weapons and Materia, giving characters different abilities and movesets depending on the outfit equipped.
Square Enix first announced the trilogy's finale at Summer Game Fest in June, in a presentation hosted by Hamaguchi and Vincent Valentine voice actor Matt Mercer. Revelation picks up after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, with Meteor bearing down on the planet and the party using the Highwind to travel between regions including Wutai, Mideel and the Northern Continent.
No release date came out of the showcase. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is still scheduled for spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, launching on all of them at once rather than repeating the timed PlayStation exclusivity of Remake and Rebirth. The window falls in the 30th anniversary year of the original Final Fantasy 7.
