The First Descendant will follow its Season 4 launch with a limited-time Conquest difficulty for the season's Mega Dungeon, turning the new instance into a leaderboard race two weeks after release, Dot Esports reported. The Mega Dungeon, Karel's Mothership, arrives with Season 4 on August 20 and wraps up Karel's storyline; the Conquest event begins on September 3.
Detailed during the Season 4 developer livestream on August 18, Karel's Mothership is built on a far longer clear than the game's other dungeons: a single run can take up to 20 minutes, where previous dungeons rarely went beyond five. It also carries more interactable elements and mechanics, such as shooting cranes with barrels to drop them on enemies.
As a pivotal story moment, the Mega Dungeon is designed around a memorable first clear rather than repeat farming. There are still items to chase, including Transcendent Weapons, but the developer framed those as a bonus, with new content such as the Descendant Raven available from other activities.
A harder version, split into two phases
Conquest is a tuned-up version of the same dungeon in which enemies deal more damage to players, shifting the emphasis to survivability rather than turning enemies into bullet sponges. Phase one runs from September 3 to September 17 and is restricted to premade squads of four with no duplicate Descendants. Phase two opens the event to everyone else, including solo players, and runs from September 17 until October 15.
The developer stressed that this is not a straight race to the finish, but clear times still decide the top rewards. The 10 squads with the fastest times in phase one receive an exclusive Medal, a name card, a UI theme and a lounge ornament, while the top 30 squads in phase two also receive Medals and other rewards. Players who never place on the leaderboard can still earn a name card, a UI theme and a skin for the upcoming Malicious Dominator Transcendent Weapon by clearing Conquest difficulty at least once.
Season 4 is the culmination of Karel's storyline, but the developer again said it is not the end of The First Descendant's story, adding that more story arcs are planned without detailing what they cover. The Mega Dungeon arrives on August 20 alongside Raven, Transcendent Weapons and a new roguelite mode, Trials.
