Nexon has launched Season 4 Episode 1 for The First Descendant, live now for all players, MassivelyOP reports. The update pushes the shooter's long-running story toward its conclusion and adds a new Descendant, Raven, alongside a mega dungeon and several new modes.
In Season 4 Episode 1, the core narrative finds Descendants facing their final showdown with Karel, the long-standing archenemy who has led Qliphoth's Legion of Darkness for years, bringing the many storylines to the grand finale.
Nexon says Karel's invasion sets Albion, the Descendants' home base, ablaze, and that the season portrays him “not as a simple villain but as a character with his own motivations and justifications,” with long-hidden secrets revealed over the course of the story.
What Season 4 Episode 1 adds
- Karel's Mothership, a new mega dungeon built around the season's finale
- A new limited-time Conquest mode
- A new transcendent weapon system
- A repeatable roguelike Trials mode
- Pre-made rotational character builds
- Reworks for the Descendants Kyle and Keelan
- Six in-game events running alongside the episode
Raven joins the roster as a former boss of an Albion back-alley guild, where she served as its arbiter. Nexon describes her as a goth-concept Descendant with a raven-feather suit and a pet raven at her side, and says she shares history with existing Descendants Viessa, Kyle and Sharen.
Mechanically she is a Non-Attribute Fusion, firearm-based skill dealer who fights with a shotgun and mobility skills. She does not consume MP, specialising instead in shield grinding and shotgun play, and comes with differentiated handling including her own dedicated roll animation.
Raven can be farmed in both high-level and lower-level content. Completing the Season 4 Episode 1 story grants a Raven Amorphous Material and 100 Rare Basic Materials, which Nexon says makes her considerably easier to obtain simply by playing through the story rather than through repeated farming.
Season 4 Episode 1 opens the loot shooter's fourth season and is live now for all players. MassivelyOP notes that the update lands despite Nexon setting modest revenue expectations for the game, with the development team pushing ahead on the season regardless.
