Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is called Override, Epic confirms

Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 will be titled Override, ending several weeks of community speculation about the battle royale’s next chapter.

The confirmation came from the official Fortnite account, which posted a Chapter 7 Season 4 teaser carrying the season name and the slogan "Break the rules. Change the game." According to Polygon, the teaser uses the same glitched visual treatment that appeared in an earlier Gem Sprite newsfeed announcement, which the outlet links to the season’s closing event, Unstable.

The name had already leaked through Epic’s own storefront. Polygon reports that a newsfeed update on Tuesday referred to the current season as "Override," while the Spanish-language version of the same text used "Glitch" and the French translation used "System Hacked." The inconsistency was enough for players to conclude the English string was the real season title, a reading the official teaser has now confirmed.

Data miners point to a Gaming Legends theme

The season’s theme has not been announced, but leaks gathered since the v41.30 patch point in a consistent direction. Data miners who dug through the update’s files found encrypted posters featuring established video game franchises including Mega Man, Pac-Man, Tetris and Sonic the Hedgehog, according to Polygon. Days later, players reported hearing the Pac-Man intro track playing at Wonkeeland in-game, a teaser that has since been disabled.

Polygon notes that the leaked character posters were found in the same game file as the Unstable story moment, suggesting the crossover material is tied to the end-of-season event rather than arriving cold at the start of the new season. Epic has not commented on the leaked assets.

What players are expecting

Community expectations, as reported by Polygon, centre on the return of Gaming Legends skins that have been out of the Item Shop for years — God of War’s Kratos, absent from rotation since early 2021, is the most frequently named. A Persona collaboration has been widely rumoured but remains unconfirmed by Epic or Atlus.

One crossover does appear more firmly established: Polygon reports that Kingdom Hearts content is expected in the next Fortnite season, following a recently leaked Rocket League collaboration with the same series.

Epic has not published a full content list for Override, and the studio has confirmed only the season title, slogan and start timing so far. The Unstable event is expected to close out the current season before the new one begins.
