Fortnite has received patch v41.30, the final update of Chapter 7 Season 3, and it carries more content than the closing weeks of a season usually do. Downtime began at 4 a.m. ET on July 30, and Polygon reports that the patch notes and datamined files landed shortly afterwards.
The headline addition is Spider-Man, who returns to the battle royale through a collaboration with the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Cosmetics from that tie-in are expected to reach the Item Shop on Friday, July 31, when it refreshes at 8 p.m. ET. Ahead of the drop, the character’s Web-Shooters have been temporarily unvaulted: players can buy them from the Spider-Man NPC at The Battlewoods point of interest, or find them by searching Spider-Man’s Backpacks, a loot container returning with the update. The patch also schedules a run of Spider-Man Power Hours.
John Wick lands on the Springfield Reload map
The Simpsons crossover that Epic Games confirmed last week as a limited-time event has expanded. John Wick and The Continental Hotel appear on the new Springfield Reload map, which will be the only island available in Reload until Monday. Battle Pass owners can work through Reload Quests during the event, which award an alternative style for the John Wick outfit.
The collaborations continue in Fortnite Festival, where the New York rapper Lil Tecca becomes the music icon for Season 15, bringing a set of cosmetics tied to the performer.
Sprite collecting picks up a new tool
Several sprites and sprite variants arrive with v41.30. Holofoil and Cube variants are now available for the Reaper and Zero Point sprites, and the Lootin’ Llama, Peeky Peely and Quack sprites join the pool. Levelling sprites advances the Sprite Master track, which unlocks the Lucky Locator Gizmo — a device that spawns a chest weighted towards sprites the player has not yet collected.
Epic lists further additions in the full v41.30 patch notes, among them more Story Quests, a story event, and a batch of new emotes, skins and sidekicks. Chapter 7 Season 4 has not been dated, leaving this update as the season’s send-off.
