Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, officially titled Override, releases on Thursday, August 20 after a maintenance window, Polygon reported. Chapter 7 Season 3 was expected to go down for maintenance at around 2am EDT on August 20, a window Polygon credited to content creator NickEh30, with the new season expected to go live around 6am EDT according to leakers on X.

What Override brings
Beyond the three headline characters, the crossover list runs to Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Joker from Persona 5 and even a Tetris block. Some arrive through the battle pass, Sonic among them, while others are expected to be shop purchases only. Franchise locations follow the characters, including Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sprites also return, but the sprites players extracted during Chapter 7 Season 3 will not be usable for the time being. New sprites take their place, some of them recognisable characters in their own right: Miles “Tails” Prower joins as a sprite that grants the ability to glide in the air.
Players chasing the John Wick outfit were advised to bank as much experience as possible before the servers went down, since progress on the outgoing season ends with the downtime.
