FURIA have continued their Esports World Cup campaign into the playoffs, pushing past 9z 2-1 with comfortable wins on Dust2 and Nuke either side of a hard-fought loss on Mirage, HLTV reported. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato was the driving force across the series.
Dust2 was smooth sailing for the Brazilian side. FURIA started and finished their CT half strongly for a 7-5 lead, then utterly outclassed 9z with their offence to tie up a straightforward 13-6 opener.
9z enjoyed better fortunes on Mirage, largely down to the stellar efforts of Matias “HUASOPEEK” Ibañez Hernandez. The Chilean, with the help of Ignacio “meyern” Meyer, kept his side close through a strong FURIA offensive half, then took over completely once the teams switched sides to guide 9z to map point. FURIA showed resilience to claw their way back into the game, KSCERATO the driving force of the comeback, but 9z resumed their dominance in overtime to send the series to a decider.
The decider ended with a whimper. FURIA dominated Nuke from start to finish to seal the match in comfortable fashion, KSCERATO once again in stellar form while his teammates stepped up and contributed in several close clutch scenarios.
9z, who opened their own tournament by beating paiN and sending the other Brazilian side into the Group D lower bracket, go out here. FURIA move on to the Esports World Cup playoffs.
