Microsoft has set out the first wave of September changes to Xbox Game Pass: seven games joining the service through the middle of the month, and ten leaving it on September 15, with Cyberpunk 2077 the largest name on the way out. GameSpot and Polygon both reported the two lists on September 1.
The wave opened on September 1 with Shelldiver, an incremental game about a turtle that fishes for jellyfish and sells its catch, available on Cloud, console and PC across Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. Speedrunners 2: King of Speed followed on September 3 as a day-one release for Ultimate and PC Game Pass; GameSpot described it as a competitive co-op platformer supporting up to eight players online. The deck-building roguelike Dice a Million arrived on September 4 and was added to Game Pass Premium alongside Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the 2020 first-person shooter, joins on September 8 on Cloud, console and PC. Two more titles arrive on September 10: the medieval-themed deck builder The Royal Writ and the fighting game Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage. The co-operative survival game RuneScape: Dragonwilds closes the wave on September 15.
Leaving on September 15
Cyberpunk 2077 was added to Game Pass in March, giving it six months on the service, and departs on Cloud and console. Its removal follows that of another CD Projekt Red game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in August; Polygon reported that a remaster of The Witcher 3 is due on September 29. Nine other titles leave the same date:

- Superliminal (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Train Sim World 5 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Polygon noted that Dead Cells, the 2018 roguelike Metroidvania, is the other significant loss from the list, and that its developer Evil Empire has Castlevania: Belmont's Curse due on October 15. Polygon also reported that a second season of the Edgerunners anime is set for release on October 20 on Netflix.
