Gran Turismo 7's 1.71 update is live on PlayStation 5, adding four cars, three new World Circuits and Whistler as the featured Curation in Scapes, according to the PlayStation Blog.
The update is free for all Gran Turismo 7 players and began rolling out at 11:00pm PDT on August 19, which is 7:00am BST and 3:00pm JST on August 20. An internet connection is required to download it, and the new cars are bought with in-game credits earned through progression or purchased.
The four new cars
Each car in the update is sorted into a category describing the kind of driving it rewards.
- '97 Toyota Chaser Tourer V, a Street Icon, available from Used Cars
- '97 Toyota Mark II Tourer V, a Sleeper Pick, available from Used Cars
- '08 Caterham Seven Superlight R500, a Pure Driver, available from Brand Central
- '25 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N, Next Gen Performance, available from Brand Central
The Chaser is positioned as the update's statement car, with roots in tuner and drifting culture, and the blog suggests a clean lap of Tokyo Expressway followed by a livery in GT Auto and a visit to the Tuning Shop.
The Mark II Tourer V is deliberately close to the Chaser but pitched as the quieter of the pair, rewarding players who spend time comparing it against other road cars of the same era and testing different setups.
The Caterham Seven Superlight R500 is described as one of the most direct driving experiences in the game, light and responsive, with the blog recommending a Time Trial on a technical circuit such as Deep Forest Raceway and a focus on lap consistency.
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N is the update's modern entry, recommended for a fast circuit such as High-Speed Ring and for custom races against other current performance cars.

Players who do not own Gran Turismo 7 can download My First GT from the PlayStation Store for free. The Gran Turismo World Series, the game's live event, held its most recent round in Tokyo, and tickets for the following round in Singapore are on sale.
