Rockstar Games has opened preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI, the studio's long-awaited next entry in its flagship crime series. Two configurations are available now: a Standard Edition priced at $80 and an Ultimate Edition at $100, both confirmed for a November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preorders are live across the major retail outlets, with platform-holders and storefronts alike taking orders ahead of launch. Buyers also get a head start on installation, with the game set to become pre-loadable from November 12.

Where And How To Preorder

Players can reserve the game through all the usual channels, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and GameStop, in addition to digital storefronts. One detail worth flagging for collectors: the boxed copies do not include a disc. Instead, the physical packaging ships with a download code, meaning the game must be installed digitally regardless of which version is purchased.

Preorder Bonuses And GTA+

Anyone who preorders receives the Vintage Vice City Pack, a themed bundle of in-game items. It includes a retro sedan, the '55 Vapid Stanier, alongside the Ocean Beach garage, period-appropriate outfits and hairstyles for both lead characters, and weapon finishes inspired by series veteran Tommy Vercetti. Digital preorders carry an additional perk: a complimentary month of GTA+. The membership deposits $500,000 into the player's in-game account and unlocks the GTA+ Games Library, a rotating selection of older Rockstar titles. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled.

What The Game Is About

GTA VI is built around two playable leads, Jason, described as a former Army veteran, and Lucia, an ex-convict. The pair are pulled into a sweeping conspiracy across the fictional, Florida-inspired state of Leonida after a bank robbery goes sideways. Players can swap between the two characters on the fly, marking the first time the series has shipped with dual protagonists, as well as its first playable female lead. The map is among the most expansive Rockstar has built, spanning regions such as the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, and Port Gellhorn, and bringing back the iconic Vice City.

What The Ultimate Edition Adds

The $100 Ultimate Edition layers in extra vehicles, weapons, apparel, and shops distributed throughout the campaign rather than handed over all at once. On the vehicle side, it bundles the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle, and a Crest kayak as Jason's safehouse rides, plus a modkit for his Vapid Ganado pickup, the Shitzu Squalo boat, a '67 Vapid Dominator, and the Paradise Garage Classic Car Collection in Watson Bay. The weapons loadout features Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, along with customized takes on Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols. The edition also grants exclusive outfits and tattoos, "Goodtime Gear," and a set of Ultimate-only businesses: the Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's mod shops, Sara's Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, and Electric Fang Tattoo. Rounding it out is a gang compound, the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store.

A Record-Setting Budget

The title's development has reportedly come at enormous cost. Take-Two Interactive chief Strauss Zelnick told Business Insider the game was "very expensive" to produce, and industry analysts have estimated the price tag could reach $1.5 billion, a figure that would make it the costliest video game ever produced. With preorders now open and a firm November 19 date locked in, Rockstar's marketing push for one of the most anticipated releases in gaming history is fully underway. Players weighing the two editions have until launch to decide, with pre-loading available a week ahead on November 12.
