Guild Wars 2's Code of Creation update went live on September 15, delivering the final chapter of the Visions of Eternity expansion and concluding its narrative arc, PCGamesN reported.
The centerpiece is Leyspring Hollows, a new explorable zone where players can train the Rift Amplification Mastery. Six new story chapters run through the update, each built around the effort to stop the Asura Vloxx and the Inquest's plans, with the Stewards of Galdra assisting the player along the way.
Leyspring Hollows also hosts Depths of Cruelty, a multistage meta-event that pits players against the Inquest and its new leader, Director Kuda. According to PCGamesN, the meta-event runs on a three-hour cycle rather than the usual two hours. New rewards include additional relics, the Tenebral Ward armor, the Shining Ward weapon set and a legendary sword called Wages of Stars.
Group content
Outside the main story zone, Code of Creation adds Nexus of Eternity, a ten-player raid encounter. Challenge and Legendary modes for the raid are due to be added in the weeks after launch. Groups of five can take on a new Fractal, the Solitary Throne, while the Nexus of Eternity Convergence is a time-based challenge in which up to 50 players work together to defend the continent of Tyria.
Code of Creation is not the last update planned for the game this year. PCGamesN reported that further updates are planned from September through December, beginning with the Dismount Rush event later in September.
The update arrives while ArenaNet is also developing Guild Wars 3. PCGamesN noted that the sequel will introduce a momentum system that includes climbing trees and wallrunning, and that moving quickly during fights will let players knock enemies into scenery to stun them.
Visions of Eternity is sold in three editions: the standard release at $24.99 or £21.99, the deluxe edition at $49.99 or £43.99, and the ultimate edition at $74.99 or £64.99.
