High on Life VR Port

High on Life is coming to VR platforms in 2027

High on Life, the first-person shooter with talking alien guns, is being ported to virtual reality, according to GameSpot. The game will launch for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and SteamVR headsets in 2027. The VR port is being handled by Flat2VR Studios, which is rebuilding the game to take advantage of VR technology.

The VR version of High on Life will allow players to interact with their guns in new ways, such as stroking and feeding them, as shown in the reveal trailer. Game director Emily O'Neil stated that the goal is to make these interactions feel natural and maintain the fast-paced combat of the original game. The trailer also showcases the game's humor and gameplay, which were key factors in its initial success.

As we're adding all of these fun, manual VR interactions, it's really important that they make sense in gameplay and that they're maintaining the fast, fluid, and powerful feeling of combat

High on Life was first released in 2022 and received positive reviews for its unique humor, gameplay, and characters, including an Australian knife. A sequel was released earlier this year, but received lukewarm reviews due to technical issues. Flat2VR Studios is also working on a VR port of System Shock, which was teased with a trailer suggesting it will be based on the 2023 remake.
