According to Polygon, Warner Bros. has officially announced that a sequel to the Harry Potter prequel game Hogwarts Legacy is in development. This announcement comes after the game's significant commercial success, with over 40 million copies sold. Polygon reports that Hogwarts Legacy was the biggest new release of 2022, selling more than 22 million copies in its first year in the U.S. and outperforming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Polygon notes that Warner Bros. executives have stated that a follow-up to Hogwarts Legacy was a priority for the company, which has struggled to find hits with other games. The company's focus on four key franchises, including Harry Potter, was also mentioned. In a letter to shareholders, Warner Bros. highlighted the importance of games as a growth area and confirmed that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is in development, as reported by Polygon.
