Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma, a Super Smash Bros Melee pro, briefly fainted after winning a tense match at Supernova 2026, according to Dexerto. The event was held in Baltimore, Maryland, from August 6 to 9. Hungrybox was competing in a Top 16 winners qualifying match against Ice Climbers player SluG.
The set came down to the final stock in the final game, with Hungrybox securing the win to advance into the bracket, Dexerto reported. Immediately after the victory, Hungrybox collapsed. Footage posted on X showed the moment he went down, though he was able to get back up shortly after and was confirmed to be physically fine.
Hungrybox addressed the incident himself on X, taking it in stride, and reassured fans it wasn’t due to poor tournament habits, Dexerto said. He also mentioned that he had water and a good lunch prior to the match. Fans reacted with a mix of concern and humour, with some advising him to check his blood sugar and sodium levels.
According to Dexerto, this marks the second time Hungrybox has fainted following an intense post-match celebration, having previously passed out for around 10 seconds during a stream. Fans also pointed to his history of extreme reactions, including breaking a chair, a CRT, and his foot, all from celebrating.
