An officially licensed IKEA collaboration arrived on Bethesda's Creations store for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on September 9. Kallax Storageborn is a free Creation built around a sentient version of IKEA's Kallax shelving unit, voiced by What We Do in the Shadows actor Matt Berry.
The Kallax works as a follower with what the Creation's description calls “unfathomable storage capacity,” carrying the player's gear to keep them from becoming over-encumbered. He can be summoned with a custom Dragon Shout, AYE-KEY-YAH, even when he is not the active companion.
Rather than dropping the shelf in as a standalone follower, the Creation attaches him to a questline. Becoming over-encumbered triggers an invitation to an abandoned Dwemer emporium, where players set out to “unravel the origins of a mysterious master” and assemble the Kallax. IGN reported that developer Kinggath Creations built two IKEA-themed dungeons and a boss fight against a Clutter Golem into the quest, and that new loot includes a Dwemer Allen Key weapon — which PC Gamer refers to as the Allenblade — a Meatball Helmet and meatball food items.

Outlets covering the release were direct about what it is. PC Gamer called it “obviously a marketing stunt” while allowing that real effort had gone into it, noting that the quest is a genuine piece of content and that Berry has more dialogue than the premise suggests. GameSpot described the Creation as an elaborate IKEA ad and framed it against a wider trend of advertising appearing inside games. Dexerto pointed out that it follows an IKEA and Xbox furniture line for gamers announced weeks earlier.
Kallax Storageborn is available now at no cost through the in-game Creations menu on the PC and Xbox versions of Skyrim. The role adds to a run of game work for Berry, who currently voices Bane in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and appeared in the 2024 adventure game Thank Goodness You're Here!. He is due to appear in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and A Minecraft Movie Squared in 2027.
