According to Video Games Chronicle, Kingdom Hearts co-creator and series designer Tetsuya Nomura has promised fans that Kingdom Hearts 4 will not be delayed. The game is set for a late 2027 release, as announced by Square Enix during Disney's D23 conference in Anaheim, California.
Nomura made this promise during a Kingdom Hearts panel at D23, where he addressed concerns from fans who were skeptical of the late 2027 release window. Video Games Chronicle reports that Nomura said, via an on-stage interpreter, 'We announced that the game is going to be coming late 2027, and I saw online that some people were saying ‘oh, you know, maybe the actual release date might still get pushed back’.
I just wanted to set the record straight – that is not happening. So I do hope that people do look forward to the game coming in 2027.
Video Games Chronicle also reports that a Kingdom Hearts animated series is in the works, with plans to release it on Disney+ and Disney Channel. Additionally, Square Enix confirmed that the world of Coco will feature in Kingdom Hearts 4, as the first of the game's Disney-themed worlds.
