Vitality recovered from their upset loss to B8 in the Esports World Cup Group C upper bracket by beating Lynn Vision 2-0 in the lower bracket, HLTV reported, taking Dust2 13-2 and Inferno 13-5. The win puts the Dan "apEX" Madesclaire-led side into the tournament's top 16 and ends the Chinese team's run in Paris, with both sides going into the win-or-go-home tie knowing defeat meant elimination.
Dust2 comes close to a 13-0
Lynn Vision's own map was first on the docket, and their sentence was nearly a 13-0 humiliation as Vitality put up a wall on the defence. "Leisurely" and "casual" were the descriptors used on the broadcast while Lynn Vision struggled to put together any semblance of a competitive attack.
Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut found himself in a 1v3 on the B site with two kills already to his name after the switch, and he downed two more before his magazine ran out of bullets while he was aiming at his third target for the ace clutch. The 13-0 dream died there, but it took Vitality only two more rounds to put the map to rest at 13-2.
Inferno follows the same script
The beatdown continued on Inferno, where William "mezii" Merriman held on long enough in a 1v3 afterplant situation to allow the bomb to go off in the pistol round. ZywOo added a 1v3 clutch of his own on the way to an 8-4 half.
Vitality won the second pistol round as well and ran straight to victory. Only a 1v3 retake defence from Lizhi "Starry" Ye stood in the way momentarily before the CT side ended it 13-5. Across the two maps Vitality conceded seven rounds in total and never trailed at a half.
Lynn Vision leave Paris without a map win, beaten on their own pick and then on Inferno. Vitality, who had been sent into the lower bracket by B8, carry on into the last 16 of the tournament.
