The Call of Duty League's Major IV bracket got a lot smaller on Day Two, with three teams sent home and the road to the championship rounds set. LA Thieves, OpTic Texas, FaZe Vegas, and host squad Paris Gentle Mates all punched their tickets to the final day of the event. Miami Heretics, G2 Minnesota, and Toronto KOI were eliminated, closing out their runs at the Major after coming up short in decisive lower bracket matches.
Upper Bracket: Thieves Escape, OpTic Cruises
LA Thieves needed every map they had to get past FaZe Vegas, with the series stretching to a full Game 5 that was decided by a round 11 tiebreaker. It was the kind of margin that could have gone either way, and Thieves came out on the right side of it to stay on the upper bracket path toward the final day. OpTic Texas had a far more comfortable day, sweeping G2 Minnesota to advance without dropping a map. The result extended OpTic's remarkable in-season form — the roster has yet to lose on a Friday or Saturday all season, a streak that continued into Major IV.
Lower Bracket: Paris and Vegas Battle Through
On the lower bracket side, host team Paris Gentle Mates kept their tournament alive with a 3-2 win over Miami Heretics. The series went the distance, with Miami's elimination hinging on a final Search and Destroy map that got away from them. Playing in front of a home crowd, Paris now moves on with a chance to make a run through the loser's side of the bracket. FaZe Vegas, fresh off their Game 5 loss to Thieves, regrouped to eliminate Toronto KOI and secure their own spot in the final four. The win keeps Vegas alive despite the upper bracket setback, setting up a possible rematch with Thieves or a collision with OpTic and Paris before the tournament closes out.
aBeZy's Case Closed
Among the individual storylines from the day, LA Thieves' Tyler "aBeZy" Pharris continues to put together one of the standout tournaments of the event. He's gone 5-4 this year against his former partner, a head-to-head mark that's fueling conversation around the event about whether his production has ever truly depended on who he's playing alongside. His play through Major IV is doing plenty to answer that question on its own. With the field down to LA Thieves, OpTic Texas, FaZe Vegas, and Paris Gentle Mates, Major IV heads into its final day with an upper bracket unbeaten in OpTic and a scrappy, road-worn Thieves squad, against a Vegas team that refuses to go away and a Paris side fighting for a title on home soil.
