Riot Games will release League of Legends patch 26.16 on August 12, raising base magic resistance across the marksman roster in a bid to push mages out of the bottom lane. Dot Esports published the patch notes ahead of the release.
Mages have displaced marksmen in the bot lane in recent months, including in professional play, because they clear waves quickly while their support roams and can bully marksmen who build little magic resistance early. The across-the-board magic resistance increase is Riot’s answer, though Dot Esports notes it is not yet clear whether the change is enough to send mages back to mid lane.
Champion changes
Azir is among the champions receiving buffs, with his Q damage rising from 60-140 to 70-150. Gwen’s passive healing against champions increases from 50 percent of post-mitigation damage to 66 percent, and Kennen’s ultimate gains both resistances, from 20-60 to 25-75, and higher damage.
On the other side of the ledger, Poppy takes cuts to base attack damage, from 60 to 56, and to her Q, which now scales with 75 percent bonus attack damage instead of 100 percent. Dot Esports attributes the nerf to her strength across three roles and her flexibility in professional play. Camille’s passive shield is reworked and her W outer damage bonus is reduced, while Bel’Veth loses health growth and attack speed on her ultimate after a rework in the previous patch left her overtuned.
Nasus receives an adjustment rather than a straight buff or nerf: he now gains four stacks per kill instead of three, but ten rather than twelve against champions, large minions and monsters, a change aimed at his jungle position.
Items and runes
Tier 3 boots are broadly improved, with Sorcerer’s Shoes gaining magic penetration and Berserker’s Greaves gaining attack speed. Mercury’s Treads is the exception, dropping from 30 to 25 magic resistance at tier 3. Runaan’s Hurricane, Sterak’s Gage, Eclipse, Tiamat and Sunfire all see changes, and Sundered Sky is nerfed through its recipe, healing and health values.
Several runes are rebalanced. Fleet Footwork’s healing is increased, and the support role quest has its gold and quest progress rates shifted away from champion and turret damage and toward creep score for both World Atlas and Runic Compass.
League of Legends runs on a two-week patch cadence, and 26.16 is scheduled for August 12, with release times varying by region.
