Legacy beat FURIA 2-1 in the third-place decider at the Esports World Cup, losing their own Ancient pick before closing out Nuke and Dust2 by identical 13-9 scores, HLTV reported.
The bronze match paired two Brazilian-majority rosters who last met at BLAST Open London, where FURIA won 2-1. That result gave Legacy something to answer for, and they did it across the final two maps of the series after giving up the opener on a map of their own choosing.
FURIA take the Ancient opener
FURIA drew first blood on Legacy's Ancient pick, winning the opening pistol round off two entry kills from Danil "molodoy" Golubenko on the attack and building a 4-0 lead. Legacy answered with five rounds to keep the half close, and later held long enough against a retake for the bomb to detonate in a pistol round, even after molodoy took down Santino "try" Rigal and Andrei "arT" Piovezan in a 1v2.
Legacy briefly moved in front at 9-8, but FURIA locked the map down once their economy stabilized, with Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and molodoy anchoring the defense in a 13-9 win.
Legacy turn the series on Nuke and Dust2
FURIA led early on their own Nuke pick before Legacy rallied to a 7-5 half. try opened the second half with three-kill rounds in both the pistol and the anti-force buy to push Legacy to 11-5, and although a triple from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo in a B-site defense and a molodoy quad kept FURIA alive, a four-kill round from Vinicius "n1ssim" Pereira brought up map point. Two rounds later the series went to Dust2.
The decider followed the same pattern. FURIA opened a 4-1 lead, Legacy defended their way back to 7-5 at the break, and n1ssim delivered the swing rounds that carried the map out 13-9. He averaged a 1.70 rating on Dust2 with an average round swing of 8.29 percent, having gone into the match with a 1.11 rating across the tournament.
try finished as the highest-rated player in the series at 1.33, capping an event in which he averaged 1.26 across 14 maps as Legacy's leading performer.
