Round8 Studio, the developer of Lies of P, is now called Nough. The studio disclosed the change in a 16-minute documentary about its culture and its work on the series, PC Gamer reported.
The video’s description says Nough is upholding the development philosophy of Round8 Studio and operating under the motto "Games by Gamers." PC Gamer described the new name as a portmanteau of "Not Enough," and said it is not clear whether Nough is a full rebrand of Round8 — itself a subsidiary of publisher Neowiz — or a company spun off from it.
The documentary also touches on the Lies of P sequel, which is in full production but has not been formally revealed or named. The team shared no details of the game itself, speaking instead about what they want it to be.
From the very start, my goal has been to create the world’s greatest action game. And we’re getting there, one step at a time.
Overall director Choi Jiwon said the team wants to match the effort that went into Lies of P and to make a game its own staff would want to play, adding that players can tell when a game has been made with real dedication. Choi closed the video by asking fans to wait a little longer and promising the studio would not let them down.
How the studio tests its games
A substantial part of the documentary is given over to how Nough playtests. At major development milestones Choi streams a playtest of the current build to the whole company. More regularly, the studio holds a "Game Day" on which everyone sets aside their usual work to play as much of the build as they can and then completes a survey about it.
According to the documentary, that feedback produced the difficulty modes added to Lies of P, and led to major cuts and a story change on the Overture expansion. The studio says it still runs the same process on the unnamed sequel.
