Amazon began the final server merge for the global version of Lost Ark on August 26, a consolidation that takes the western service from 12 servers down to five, MassivelyOP reported. The process started on the day the publisher had scheduled it.
The merge lands in the middle of a larger handover. Amazon is exiting the publishing business and returning Lost Ark to developer Smilegate, so the reduced server list is the shape the game will be in when it changes hands.
Amazon set expectations for downtime in a Discord post on the morning of the merge, declining to name a window it could not hold to.
We don't have a specific downtime window to share. This is a large process, and depending on how things go it could take up to 24 hours. I didn't want to give you all a time we can't guarantee and keep extending it by hours. We're going to bring servers back up as soon as everything is ready.
The publisher also said login records would be maintained through the merge, and that compensation would roll out once the merges completed successfully.
Five servers, two regions
The merge leaves the global version running on five servers: Inanna, Vairgrys and Thaemine in North America, and Elpon and Arcturus in Europe. The set of merges Amazon announced earlier in August set that target, taking the total down from 12.
It is a steep reduction for a game that once ran several dozen servers in the west, and MassivelyOP framed the consolidation as a sad marker for where the global version has ended up.
