Luminosity have closed out a Counter-Strike 2 roster rebuild that began earlier this week, signing Swedish rifler Simon "yxngstxr" Boije from HEROIC and confirming Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk as the team's head coach.
Boije arrives as a direct replacement for Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras, who was moved to the bench on Monday, and the signing returns the active roster to full strength. HLTV reports that he will debut for the organization at Roman Imperium Cup VIII, scheduled for September 10 to 13.
HEROIC had announced his departure a day earlier, saying the Swede was leaving the organization as he set off on a "new journey." Boije marked the move himself in a post on X.
After 2 rough seasons, it's finally time to go and start the real rifle grind.
A year of stand-in duty at HEROIC
Boije joined HEROIC in 2025 and filled a range of roles there. He returned from the bench at the start of 2026 to take over the AWP while the organization worked through Alimzhan "Alkaren" Bitimbay's visa issues, averaging a 1.00 rating across the season in that role and helping HEROIC qualify for Stage 1 of the IEM Cologne Major. He also took titles at DraculaN Season 5 and Stake Ranked Episode 3 as the interim sniper.
After stepping down from the roster during HEROIC's summer rebuild, he stood in for EYEBALLERS at BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 and turned out for the Raccoons mix team across several online competitions.

Szymanczyk had already been standing behind the team at XSE Pro League Guangzhou and the Esports World Cup before Luminosity confirmed the signing. The Austrian coach was part of the Monte roster that attended the IEM Cologne Major and left for Luminosity without in-game leader Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen, so the appointment reunites him with former teammates.
Bymas was benched less than two months after Luminosity signed that ex-Monte core alongside Lucas "lux" Meneghini. The lineup debuted under the Luminosity banner with consecutive last-place finishes at XSE Pro League Guangzhou and the Esports World Cup.
