Machine Party Passes 500,000 Sales in Its First Week on Steam

The violent party game from Buckshot Roulette's Mike Klubnika and co-developer GDeavid has added an arcade mode, with couch co-op to follow.

Machine Party, a multiplayer party game from Buckshot Roulette developer Mike Klubnika and fellow independent developer GDeavid, has sold more than 500,000 copies in its first week on Steam. PCGamesN reports the game launched at the end of July and that its developers marked the figure by adding a new arcade mode.

The developers described the milestone in a post accompanying the update, calling half a million "a crazy number" and thanking players for the support. Couch co-op is listed as coming soon.

A minigame collection built around failure

The game is designed for two to four players and self-describes as a collection of violent party games in which failure is lethal. PCGamesN reports that it cycles through minigames spanning simple reaction tests and rounds built around social deception. Those the outlet describes include:

  • Dodging moving trains
  • Chiselling blocks out to match a template
  • Eating peas as fast as possible without provoking a watchful armed guard
  • Sneaking through an alleyway while another player watches through a sniper scope
  • Crossing a minefield, pushing rivals aside, as heavy machinery gives chase

It sells for $8 / £6.50, with an introductory discount running until Thursday, August 13. PCGamesN judges the amount of content on offer sufficient to justify the price, and attributes the sales figure to that reception rather than to a marketing push.

A pattern in Klubnika's work

Machine Party follows two earlier Klubnika projects PCGamesN cites as its lineage. Buckshot Roulette, released in 2024, combined Russian roulette with a set of Balatro-style modifiers. Its 2025 follow-up, s.p.l.i.t., applied a psychological horror treatment to the MS-DOS operating system.

Machine Party is the first of those to be built in collaboration with GDeavid, and the first aimed squarely at group play rather than a single player at a table. PCGamesN notes that the shift has not changed the register: the game keeps the same bleak presentation as the earlier releases, with the violence applied to a party format instead of a one-on-one confrontation.
