Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition is now live on Apple Arcade, IGN reports. The release is a version of EA’s football series built for Apple’s subscription service, and it carries no advertising, in-app purchases, in-game currencies or paywalls.
Access requires an Apple Arcade subscription rather than a one-off purchase. Apple prices the service at $6.99 a month; new subscribers get a one-month trial, and buyers of a new Apple device get three months. There is no separate cost for the game beyond the subscription.

The Arcade Edition runs across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, and Apple says it supports controllers on all of them. In its press release the company said the game "brings players closer to the action exactly how they want to play, wherever they are", citing that seamless controller support across the four device families. EA describes full controller support as a first for the series on mobile, which matters most on Apple TV, where a controller is the primary input.
On the field, EA says the Arcade Edition uses the same 11-on-11 gameplay that Madden NFL Mobile players know, rather than a reduced format. The game’s store listing names Quick Play and Franchise Mode among its modes, the latter covering the season-long team management the series is built around.
EA says players will lead and coach a team through a season and keep it on track across the year, and the game’s store listing highlights Quick Play and Franchise Mode among the ways to do that. Because the Arcade Edition carries no packs or currencies, progression through those modes is not attached to a storefront, which is the clearest structural difference between it and the mobile version EA compares it to.
