EA Play members can now play up to 10 hours of EA Sports Madden NFL 27 before its full release, Microsoft said in an Xbox Wire post. Progress made during the trial carries over to the full game for players who go on to buy it.
The trial is available through Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate with EA Play. Microsoft said members also receive a 10 percent discount on EA digital purchases, including the full game and Madden Points, plus a monthly Madden Ultimate Team pack and an EA Play Welcome Pack from August 6.
What EA says is new this year
The post sets out the changes EA is leading with in Madden NFL 27. The headline addition is what EA calls the Persona Engine, which the publisher says gives each NFL athlete a distinct personality governing their motivations and how they respond to events in Franchise mode.
- Gameplay changes covering wide receiver and defensive back interactions, short-yardage mechanics, defensive coverage and pre-play settings.
- An expanded G.O.A.T. Career Journey running from high school to the Hall of Fame, with deeper skill trees and additional playable positions.
- A revised upgrade system in Ultimate Team, where skill points earned from in-game objectives are spent on new Evos items.
Madden is not the only EA title in the August EA Play rewards. Microsoft listed a Gold Garlic Grenade weapon charm for Apex Legends, available until August 31, and a Clubs Wildstyle Blue Headband with Mohawk for EA Sports FC 26, available until August 13. EA Sports FC 26 has also been added to The Play List.
Neither EA nor Microsoft gave a figure for how long the trial offer will remain available, and the Xbox Wire post did not state a full release date for Madden NFL 27.
