Hangar 13 has detailed Man of Honor, the expansion for Mafia: The Old Country, which the studio says launches on Aug. 14. Polygon reports the release covers PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X, and that the bulk of the new content lands in the game’s Free Ride mode rather than only in its story.

Writing on the PlayStation Blog alongside a gameplay overview trailer, Hangar 13 design director Josh Zammit said the expansion adds two story chapters set earlier in protagonist Enzo Favara’s service to the Torrisi crime family, in which he works with the mafioso Ennio Salieri. Owning the expansion also unlocks a separate set of jobs and challenges, new collectibles, and additional locations on the Valle Dorata map.

Making Salieri the focal point of Man of Honor lets us showcase who he was before his emigration to America and subsequent rise to power, deepening his backstory in a really engaging way.

What changes in Free Ride

Salieri operates from a warehouse in Porto Almaro and acts as the contact point for two kinds of contract. Challenges follow the format already in Free Ride mode at a higher difficulty, while Jobs introduce new mission types — locating hidden caches, towing high-value vehicles back to Salieri, and delivering stolen trucks carrying fragile goods. Completing them pays out Dinari, the in-game currency.

Polygon adds that Salieri also unlocks standoff, assassination, circuit race, time trial and road sprint challenges spread across Sicily, and that players who avoid him entirely can still hunt outlaws, complete stunt jumps and earn Dinari through exploration. The outlet frames the additions as a continuation of the Free Ride update Hangar 13 shipped last November, which followed criticism that the Explore mode had little to do at launch.

Dinari earned in the expansion buys outfits, charms, weapons, vehicles and horses that Hangar 13 says are exclusive to Man of Honor. Zammit singled out a throwing knife called the Rimbalzu, which ricochets from one target to a second, as an example of gear designed past strict period accuracy. Other optional content includes collectible Wanted Posters using likenesses of the development team, stunt jumps, and destructible delivery trucks loaded with sulfur.

Man of Honor requires the base game, and Hangar 13 notes that some of its content must be unlocked through play. Neither the studio nor Polygon has stated a price.
