Marathon update 1.1.5.2 extends Vault Breaker to August 18

Bungie has released update 1.1.5.2 for Marathon, and the headline change is a stay of execution for the game's limited-time PvE mode. Vault Breaker now runs until August 18, giving the experimental mode more play time and more testing ahead of the fuller PvE experience Bungie has planned for September.

Alongside the extension, the studio increased the available stock of some limited offers to match the longer window, and corrected the Key Template Armory reward so that it correctly specifies it only awards Cryo Archive keys. Bungie said it is continuing to gather feedback on the mode.

Weapon and economy changes

Two guns carry the combat half of the patch. The V22 Volt Thrower takes a damage increase along with two handling adjustments, while the KKV-9SD's changes are confined to its magazine.

• V22 Volt Thrower damage increased from 12.6 to 14.4
• V22 Volt Thrower tracking speed now decays slowly over 1.2 seconds of a projectile's lifetime, by up to 30 percent
• V22 Volt Thrower time spent at 540rpm before weapon heat spins down reduced by roughly 20 percent
• KKV-9SD base magazine size raised from 23 to 28, with magazine sizes retuned at every stat value to compensate
• The Prestige Flechette Drum magazine mod stays at 87
• V85 Circuit Breaker's Prestige quality Overlocked Delimiter mod has been re-enabled after a stability fix

The item economy also moves. Free Sponsored Kits have been upgraded: the starting weapon now comes with random Enhanced green mods, plus one stack of Enhanced green Patch Kits and one random grenade, which may be smoke, heat, or claymore.

The rest of the update is fixes. Bungie closed an exploit in which repeatedly opening the Cryo Hatch could grant unintended amounts of faction reputation and Season XP, and the action now provides its intended gains once per match. With that resolved, every action in Cryo Archive that had its reputation and experience gains disabled has been re-enabled. Two further fixes address players not receiving Salvage or Schemas when buying Rewards Pass items with LUX, and store bundle items that were not displaying in the Catalog section as intended.
